01 · What is CBI
Citizenship, granted for investing in a nation's economy
Citizenship by Investment is a legal programme, created by a country's own laws, that grants full citizenship to people who make an approved economic contribution.
The money funds national development: infrastructure, housing, health and recovery from natural disasters. In return, you and your family receive citizenship for life, which passes to your children.
A one-time, non-refundable payment to a national development fund. The simplest and usually cheapest route, from $200,000.
Buy into a government-approved development, such as a hotel or resort. You own an asset you can sell after the holding period, from $200,000.
St Kitts & Nevis launches the world’s first CBI programme.
Dominica follows with its Economic Citizenship Programme.
Antigua & Barbuda and Grenada open their programmes.
Saint Lucia launches the newest Caribbean programme.
All five agree a common minimum investment of $200,000.
A regional regulator begins overseeing all five programmes.
02 · Why a second passport
